My Birthday Gift to You

May 19, 2010

Today is my 47th birthday and to celebrate I want to share with you three gifts that have made a big difference in my life and perhaps will in yours as well. The first is my personal “Bible” if you will, a book by the late Robert Adams entitled “Silence of the Heart.” It is not authored by Adams but rather is a collection of many of the talks he gave in satsang from the small Los Angeles apartment in which he lived. This book has spoken to me like none other and suffice it to say I have read a lot of books on the subject of non-duality. I wish I could have sat in his presence just once.

My second gift to you is a website from Australia composed of podcast interviews of dozens of modern non-dualists who, at least to me, clearly have awakened to their true nature. Often I listen to these podcasts at night after the world has dimmed the lights and always I come away with something new and meaningful to enrich me. Best of all, each podcast is intermixed with a wonderful collection of eclectic music that ultimately may enhance your music library as much as it has mine. The website is http://urbangurucafe.com/ and I urge you to give one or more of the podcasts a listen.

And finally, just because it’s such a treat to watch people from around the world dance terribly (like I do), a repeat of the classic “Where’s Matt” video sensation. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday my friend. To know your only 47 is amazing to me. I have always believe you were over 70. How can anyone at 47 acquire the skill-set you have developed? So here is my offer to you. Meet me in the western mountains (the location is secret) and we will have a little wine (I prefer red) together, toasting your birthday, and viewing the unparalleled mountain scenery, pondering how God got you this far.
